Hawaii 89, Northwestern St. 78
HONOLULU (AP)—Matt Lojeski scored 23 points to lead Hawaii to an 89-78 win over Northwestern State Saturday night.
Bobby Nash added a career-highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors (5-4), Riley Luettgerodt scored 15 and added Matt Gibson 14.
Luke Rogers led Northwestern State (5-5) with 21 points, Kennan Jones added 14 and Marcellas Ross had 11.
Hawaii, who never trailed, opened up a 23-5 lead eight minutes into the game with a 14-point run.
The Rainbow Warriors led by as much as 20 in the first and took a 36-23 lead at halftime.
Northwestern State shot just 20 percent from the floor in the first, including making just two of its first 16 shots.
Northwestern State made six of its first seven shots of the second half to pull to within five, 42-37, with 16:05 remaining in the game.
But Hawaii responded with a 15-0 run over the next four minutes to extend its lead back to 20.
Northwestern State head coach Mike McConathy left the sideline with 11:50 remaining in the game after picking up his second technical foul of the second half.
