Boise St. 94, Montana St. 69

BOISE, Idaho (AP)—Matt Nelson and Matt Bauscher each scored 16 points as Boise State defeated Montana State 94-69 Wednesday night in a nonconference game.

The Broncos (3-4) scored more than 90 points for the first time this season.

Nick Dissly led Montana State (2-7) with 18 points and two rebounds. Branden Johnson had nine points and three rebounds for the Bobcats.

Bauscher broke the game open by hitting back-to-back 3-pointers from the left corner, the second after an Anthony Thomas steal, to make it 19-14 with 11:09 left in the first half and the Broncos steadily pulled away.

Boise State used a man-to-man defense in the first half with an occasional full-court press to force 11 turnovers by the Bobcats that the Broncos converted into fastbreak points.

The easy baskets allowed Boise State to shoot 69 percent in the half, and hit eight of nine 3-point attempts.

Montana State had 21 turnovers for the game.

Nelson ended the first half with a steal at midcourt and a crowd-pleasing dunk to make it 54-28 at the break.

The Bobcats rarely had an uncontested shot and hit only 39 percent in the first half and 45 percent for the game. They hit 12 of 24 3-point attempts.

The Broncos had nine turnovers and ended up shooting 50 percent overall. They made 11 of 18 3-point attempts, with Bauscher hitting four of them on five attempts. Thomas scored 13 points for the winners.

The Bobcats trailed by as many as 33 points on two occasions.

Boise State remains undefeated at home.
