PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Juma Kamara scored 17 points to lead Portland State to a 69-53 win over the University of Portland on Monday night.
Scott Morrison added 15 points and four blocked shots for the Vikings (4-2), who won their third straight game.
Deonte Huff chipped in 10 points for PSU. Walter Thompson led Portland (2-5) with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Jamie Jones added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Pilots.
Portland State led 31-27 at halftime and opened the second half with an 8-2 run to take a 39-29 lead with 16:59 left to play. A 3-pointer by Sean Smith at 13:58 gave the Vikings a 44-33 advantage, and another 3-pointer by Huff at the 10-minute mark put PSU up 51-35.
The Pilots would not close within 11 points the rest of the game. Portland State shot 43 percent from the field and held Portland to just 35 percent from the floor.
