Oregon St. 72, Montana St. 63
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP)—Marcel Jones scored 24 points to lead Oregon State to a 72-63 road victory over Montana State Sunday afternoon.
Montana State gained the early lead, directed by Nick Dissly who surpassed his season high 14 points in the first half and finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Beavers (4-3) fought back and went on an 11-1 run late in the first half to give them a ten-point lead. MSU brought it down by two, to go into halftime down eight.
OSU increased the lead to 13 to start the second half and the Bobcats would be unable to recover. The Beavers were able to use a 53.8 scoring percentage to their advantage, despite being out-rebounded 36-29.
Oregon State’s Jack McGillis, a Missoula native who was named Mr. Montana as the state’s top high school basketball player, topped a career high to score 10 points for OSU in front of a crowd of family and friends.
Brothers Josh and Seth Tarver put up 14 and 11 points respectively for the Beavers, a career high for Seth Tarver.
Ted Morris had his second double-double of the season for MSU with 14 points and ten rebounds. Danny Piepoli put up a season-high 11 points including three 3-pointers for MSU.
