West Virginia 73, Montana 56
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP)—Frank Young scored 21 points and Joe Alexander had 18 Thursday night to lead West Virginia to a 73-56 victory over Montana in the Old Spice Classic at Disney World.
The Mountaineers (4-0) shot 52 percent in the second half, building a 7-point halftime lead into a 25-point advantage. Young made three 3-pointers and also had a tip-in during the surge that broke the game open.
Andrew Strait led Montana (1-3) with 14 points. The Grizzlies missed 14 of their first 15 shots from 3-point range and finished 4-for-18.
Young made 8-of-16 shots from the field, including 5-of-10 3-pointers. Darris Nichols scored 11 for the Mountaineers.
Strait was joined in double figures for Montana by Jordan Hasquet and Matt Dloughy, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
