Cornell 65, Army 56
WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP)—Brian Kreefer scored seven of his 23 points in the final two minutes to lead Cornell in a 65-56 win over Army in a non-league game Tuesday.
Army (3-2) had an 11-2 spurt in the second half, cutting a 13-point Cornell lead to just four points, but Kreefer came back with his fifth three-pointer with less than two minutes left to put the Big Red up 55-48.
Army got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
The two teams forged three ties and two lead changes through the first six minutes of the game.
But with the score tied 11-all, Cornell had a 13-4 run to jump out to a 24-15 advantage.
Jarell Brown scored five quick points to cut the lead to 24-20, but Cornell responded with an 8-5 spurt to carry a 32-25 edge at the end of the first half.
Cornell opened the second half with 9-0 scoring to assume a 41-25 lead.
The Big Red retained a double-digit lead throughout most of the half until Army’s comeback 11-2 run.
Ryan Wittman added 14 and Louis Dale had 12 points for Cornell (3-1).
Matt Bell led Army with 12 points, while Corban Bates added 11.
