Furman 63, Bowling Green 59
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP)—Robby Bostain had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Furman never trailed in a 63-59 victory over Bowling Green on Sunday.
Bostain was 6-of-13 from the field and made seven of eight free throw attempts for Furman (3-1), which took a 29-20 lead at halftime. Gerad Punch had 11 points and Eric Webb added 12 points and six rebounds.
Bowling Green (1-2) tied the game with 2:35 remaining on a tip-in by Erik Marschall but couldn’t take a lead, despite shooting 42 percent from the field (21-of-50) to Furman’s 39 percent (19-of-48).
With Furman leading 62-59 with three seconds left, the Falcons’ Ryne Hamblet missed two free throws. Alex Opacic grabbed the rebound and finished the scoring with a foul shot for the Paladins.
Martin Samarco led the Falcons with 27 points and nine rebounds, and Marschall finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Bowling Green outrebounded the Paladins 37-31.
