Lehigh 90, Cornell 71
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP)—Jose Olivero scored 24 points and Jason Mgebroff added 18 as Lehigh rolled to a 90-71 win over Cornell on Friday.
The Mountain Hawks (1-3) shot 50 percent on the night to pick up their first victory of the season. Four Lehigh players scored in double figures.
Lehigh raced out to a 37-21 halftime lead behind the play of freshman Marquis Hall, who scored all 10 of his points in the opening half.
Cornell (2-1) shot 40 percent, receiving 20 points from sophomore Brian Kreefer and 22 from freshman Louis Dale. The Big Red sank eight 3-pointers and turned over the ball 10 times.
In the second half, the Mountain Hawks went up by 20 when Mgebroff completed a three-point play with 16:25 to go in the game. Lehigh’s lead swelled to as many as 22 points with 7:03 left when freshman Zahir Carrington, who had two emphatic dunks on the evening, sank a free throw.
The Mountain Hawks outrebounded the Big Red 44-25, with Lehigh junior Bryan White pulling down a career-best 14 rebounds.
