FORT WORTH, Texas (AP)—Brent Hackett scored nine points and Keion Mitchem came off the bench to add eight in TCU’s 59-53 win over Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday night.

Stephen F. Austin cut the lead to 53-51 with 2:29 remaining on a layup by Antuane Miller, but Kevin Langford scored back-to-back layups in the final minutes. Blake Adams hit two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to preserve the victory.

Mitchem’s points included two 3-pointers. Four other TCU players had seven points apiece.

Miller hit 6-of-10 from the field to lead the Lumberjacks (1-1) with 14 points. Josh Alexander and Chaz Dykes each added 10 points. Alexander grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

The Horned Frogs (2-0) led the Lumberjacks 33-25 at the half and hit almost 50 percent of their field goals in the second half.

TCU scored 18 points on 19 Lumberjack turnovers.

The Lumberjacks made only 36 percent of their field goals compared to TCU’s 48 percent.
