Lipscomb 67, Evansville 64

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Trey Williams hit a 3-pointer and two key free throws down the stretch to lead Lipscomb to a 67-64 comeback victory Monday night over Evansville.

Williams’ 3-pointer with 1:50 left cut Evansville’s lead to 64-63, and he made two free throws with 1:11 left to push the Bisons (2-0) ahead for good 65-64.

Lipscomb’s Eddie Ard made two free throws with 4 seconds left for the final points of the game.

Ard finished with 21 points, Williams had 20 and Brian Fisk scored 10.

The Purple Aces (0-1) led the entire second half, except for a 37-all tie, until Williams’ free throws. Evansville’s biggest lead was 50-41 on a Darin Granger jumper with 10:41 left.

Jason Holsinger led the Purple Aces with 15 points and Matt Webster had 13. Evansville did not score a field goal in the last 3:02.
