ST. LOUIS (AP)—Jamaal Tatum scored 25 points to lead No. 2 seed Southern Illinois to a 71-55 win over seventh-seeded Evansville Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Tony Young added 14 points for the Salukis (20-10), who reached the 20-win mark for the fifth straight year. Southern Illinois will face the winner of the Northern Iowa-Missouri State game in a semifinal Saturday. Bradley will meet top-seeded Wichita State in the other semifinal.

Jason Holsinger had 27 points and Matt Webster added 15 for Evansville, which finished the year 10-19.

Southern Illinois trailed 12-9 before Tatum got going. He scored the next seven points to fuel a 10-0 run that put the Salukis up 19-12 with 3:40 left in the half. The Salukis stretched their lead to 25-16 at the intermission.

With the Salukis leading 36-25, Tatum went off again, scoring eight of the next 11 points to give Southern Illinois a commanding 43-28 advantage.
