SE Louisiana 82, McNeese St. 71
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP)—Ricky Woods scored 24 points and Quennell Green added 21 to lead Southeastern Louisiana to an 82-71 Southland Conference basketball victory over McNeese State Wednesday.
The victory put the Lions (15-11, 9-6) into a third place tie in the league standings with McNeese (14-12, 9-6) and Lamar.
Southeastern used the free-throw line for the victory, making 29 of 38 shots there while the Cowboys were 19-of-25. Both teams made 24 field goals.
The Lions jumped off to an 8-0 lead before the Cowboys came back and tied the score at 17 with nine minutes left in the first half. McNeese took a 37-34 lead into halftime, with J.T. Williams scoring 13 of his team high of 17 points in the first half.
Southeastern took the lead for good early in the second and went out by as many as 13 points before winding up with the 11-point win.
Chris Lee added 13 points for Southeastern Louisiana.
Troy Aaron added 13 and John Ford had 10 for the Cowboys.
Southeastern’s Woods was the game’s leading rebounder with 12.
