Jacksonville St. 79, New Orleans 74
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Harold Crow scored 17 points and B.J. Spencer and Courtney Bradley each added 16 to help lead Jacksonville State to a 79-74 win over New Orleans on Saturday night.
The Gamecocks (13-12, 10-8 Ohio Valley Conference) forced 17 turnovers and shot 50 percent from the floor in the win.
“The difference in the game was turnovers,” coach Mike LaPlante said. “We had more possessions than they did, and that proved to be the difference. This was a good quality win for our team.”
The Privateers (7-18, 4-9 Sun Belt Conference) shot 55 percent from the floor and were 4-of-8 from 3-point range.
JSU had 12 steals and scored 18 points off of New Orleans turnovers.
Walker Russell scored 15 points and had 11 assists to round out the double-digit scoring for JSU.
Shawn Malloy led New Orleans with a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Nathaniel Parker scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes for the Privateers.
