COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Walker Russell scored 19 points, hitting all 10 of his free throws, as Jacksonville State beat Tennessee Tech 74-68 Thursday.
The Gamecocks (11-11, 9-7 Ohio Valley Conference) led the entire second half and controlled the boards 42-28.
Courtney Bradley added 16 points for Jacksonville State, Dorien Brown 12 and Anthony Wilson 11.
Tennessee Tech (16-9, 11-6) had just two players in double figures, reserves Anthony Fisher with 15 and Amadi McKenzie with 10. Tech’s starters combined for just 25 points.
The Golden Eagles got to within 5 points three times in the last 3 minutes but got no closer. The last time was 67-62 with 35 seconds left, but the Gamecocks hit 5-of-6 free throws and a late layup for the win.
Tech’s last lead was 31-30 with 17 seconds left in the first half.
