Detroit 70, Wright St. 66
DETROIT (AP)—Brandon Cotton scored 22 points Wednesday to lead Detroit past Wright State 70-66 for the Titans’ 10th victory in 11 home games this season.
DaShaun Wood, who prepped at Detroit’s Crockett High, had 28 to lead the Raiders (11-11, 7-5 Horizon League), who had won three straight.
The Titans (12-14, 6-7) led the entire second half but Wright State got to within four on Wood’s layup with 4:24 to play. Cotton answered with a jump shot and three free throws in the next minute to give Detroit some breathing room.
The shorter Titans outrebounded the Raiders 35-30 and outscored them 28-20 in the paint. Detroit went on a 12-1 run in the last six minutes of the first half to take the lead for good and was ahead 30-25 at halftime.
Chuck Bailey added 13 points for the Titans while Torvoris Baker had 10 and tied his career high with 12 rebounds. Jordan Pleiman had 14 points for Wright State.
