Nebraska 60, Baylor 45
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—Aleks Maric scored 12 points in a 26-5 run at the start of the second half to lead Nebraska past Baylor 60-45 Saturday.
Nebraska (15-6, 5-3 Big 12) trailed Baylor (1-7, 1-7) by seven at halftime. But the Husker defense cooled off the hot-shooting Bears, and Maric’s inside play dominated the early second half.
Baylor made just 2 of its first 18 shots in the second half and finished 5 of 24 in the half. The Bears made 10 of 22 shots in the first half and hit 8 of 13 from 3-point range to build their halftime lead.
Maric scored Nebraska’s first seven points in the second half, and added a pair of dunks midway through the run. Nebraska took its first lead of the half on Wes Wilkinson’s jumper that made the score 36-33 with 13:48 left.
The Huskers never trailed again.
Nebraska took a 10 point lead on Charles Richardson’s free throws with 6:44 left and led by as many as 15 late in the half.
The Huskers dominated the boards as well, outrebounding Baylor 44-27
Jason Dourisseau had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Nebraska. Wes Wilkinson had 15 for the Huskers and Maric finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Aaron Bruce had 17 points, all in the first half, to lead Baylor.
