Nebraska 65, Missouri 52
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—Jamel White scored a career-high 28 points, and Nebraska held Missouri to just 11 points in the final nine minutes to take a 65-52 win Saturday.
Nebraska (13-6, 3-3 Big 12) led by as many as 10 in the first half and was up by seven at the break. But Missouri (10-8, 3-4) opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take a 33-32 lead on Jason Horton’s layup with 14:29 left.
White then scored the first seven points of a 9-0 Nebraska run that made the score 41-33 on Jason Dourisseau’s short jumper with 12:15 left.
Missouri came back with another scoring spurt of eight unanswered points to tie the game at 41 with 9:20 left.
Then the Huskers clamped down on defense and outscored the Tigers 24-11 the rest of the way. Nebraska scored eight straight, but saw Missouri close to within six on Horton’s 3 pointer with 3:52 left.
But White answered with a long 3-pointer, and then hit another jumper to put Nebraska up 57-46 with 2:04 left. Nebraska hit six of eight free-throws in the last 94 seconds to seal the win.
Joining White in double figures for Nebraska were Dourisseau and Wes Wilkinson with 13 each.
Thomas Gardner led Missouri with 22. Jimmy McKinney had 11 for the Tigers.
The Huskers won the game at the free throw line. Nebraska was 18 of 25 from the stripe. Missouri hit all six of its free throws.
Nebraska played without Joe McCray. The sophomore guard was suspended indefinitely Friday by coach Barry Collier.
