Wisconsin-Milwaukee 61, Wright State 54
MILWAUKEE (AP)— Boo Davis scored 21 points as Wis.-Milwaukee defeated Wright State 61-54 to retain first place in the Horizon League Saturday night.
Adrian Tigert added 13 points and Joah Tucker 12 for Milwaukee (14-4, 7-1), which has won ten of its last 11 games. The victory extended the team’s school record for consecutive home wins to 18 including nine this season.
The win was also Milwaukee’s ninth in a row over Wright State.
Wright State (8-8, 4-2) lost its second straight game. Deshaun Wood had 17 points, Drew Burleson 15 and Jordan Pleiman 11 points for the Raiders.
The Panthers, who trailed by a point at the half, were tied with the Raiders at 38-38 when they reeled off seven straight points to go ahead for good in the game.
Tigert ended the winning scoring surge by making one of two free throws with 10:32 left to play for a 45-38 lead.
The Raiders pulled within 49-48 on a free throw by Pleiman but Tucker and Tigert scored two straight baskets to boost the lead to 53-48 with 2:04 left to play.
Wood hit a jumper with 1.3 seconds left to give the Raiders a 35-34 halftime lead.
Davis scored with 6:25 left in the first half to boost the Panther lead to 24-14.
But Wood, who had all eight of his first half points the rest of the way, came charging back. Wood scored twice in the last minute to give Wright State its first leads since the opening minutes of the game.
