Bucknell 62, Lafayette 32
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP)—Kevin Bettencourt scored 16 of his game-high 19 points in the first half and notched four 3-pointers to lead Bucknell to a 62-to-32 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday.
Bucknell outscored Lafayette 19-2 in a 9-minute span in the second half, building its lead over the Patriot League rival.
Lafayette’s tight zone defense kept the Bison in check early in the game, when both teams benefited from strong defense.
Bucknell (13-3, 4-0 Patriot League) made the most of its opportunities, scoring three times as often off turnovers, en route to a 27-13 lead at the break.
The Leopards (8-9, 2-2), led by Paul Cummins’ 7 points, shot just 25 percent from the floor. They gave the ball away 26 times, with Bucknell converting on half of those.
Bison center Chris McNaughton, who entered the game needing just 25 points to hit 1,000 for his career, was held to 4.
Charles Lee finished with 7 points and six rebounds for Bucknell.
