JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Walker Russell hit two free throws with two seconds left to lift Jacksonville State to a 77-75 win over Tennessee State Saturday night.
Dorien Brown scored 12 points and Jacksonville State (6-8, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) held Tennessee State without a field goal over the final 2:17 to snap a four-game losing streak.
Russell and B.J. Spencer scored 11 points apiece and Harold Crow had 10 for the Gamecocks.
Clarence Matthews made 9-of-10 shots for 25 points to lead Tennessee State (4-9, 3-4). He had eight rebounds but also committed seven turnovers.
Kareem Grant had 15 points and Reiley Ervin scored 13 for Tennessee State.
Tennessee State shot 57.8 percent but made only 17-of-30 free throws and committed 21 turnovers.
