Southern Illinois 66, Evansville 38
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP)—Matt Shaw scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Southern Illinois over Evansville 66-38 in a lopsided Missouri Valley Conference matchup Wednesday night.
Tony Young scored 13 points and Tony Boyle chipped in 10 for the Salukis (12-3, 5-0 MVC).
Southern Illinois hit just 1-of-6 from 3-point range in the first half and was 7-of-18 (38.9 percent) overall from behind the arc. The Salukis led 32-15 at halftime.
Evansville (5-8, 1-4 MVC) had no players who scored in double digits. Matt Webster led the team with eight points and Art Stalbergs added another six.
Bryan Mullins had just one point for the Salukis but came away with nine assists.
Shy Ely had five points and five rebounds for Evansville.
