Buffalo 56, Delaware State 51
DOVER, Del. (AP)—Delaware State University was outscored 37-18 in the second half of a 56-51 loss to Buffalo on Friday.
DSU lost its fifth in a row to fall to 2-10 on the season, while Buffalo won its eighth straight to improve to 10-1.
The Hornets led 33-19 at the half, and opened up a 36-19 lead when Darrin Shine hit a three-point shot with 19:01 left to play.
Buffalo responded by scoring 11 of the next 14 points, and cut Delaware State’s lead to 39-30 on a lay up by Parnell Smith with 15:01 remaining.
The Hornets answered with a 6-2 run, and pulled ahead 45-32 on a jumper by Jahsha Bluntt with 12:27 left.
Bluntt hit two free throws with 8:24 left to give Delaware State a 49-38 lead. Buffalo scored the next 13 points, and took its first lead 51-49 on a three-pointer by Smith with 4:12 remaining to play.
The Hornets missed each of their three shots and committed two turnovers during Buffalo’s go-ahead run.
Delaware State tied the score at 51 on a jumper by Bluntt with 4:05 left.
The Bulls took the lead for good when Yassin Idbihi hit a jump hook in the lane with 2:00 left.
