MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Jamaal Tatum scored 17 points as Southern Illinois beat Murray State 57-53 Wednesday night.
Randal Falker dunked over two Murray State players to break a 50-all tie with 1:05 left, and Southern Illinois (7-3) hit 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch.
Both teams used a physical defense to force a combined 33 turnovers.
Murray State (5-4) started slow, scoring just six points in the first 10 minutes. But the Racers came back to cut the margin to 25-23 by the end of the first half. They went on a 16-7 run to take a seven-point lead with 14:43 to play.
No Murray State player scored in double figures.
