WASHINGTON (AP)—Shan Foster connected on five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Vanderbilt to a 68-61 win over Georgetown on Saturday.
The Commodores (4-0) trailed by as many as 13 in the first half, but shot 59 percent in the second to send Georgetown (2-1) to a loss in its first home game of the season.
Foster scored 13 points in the second half and made five of his eight 3-point attempts in the game. Mario Moore added 12 points off the bench for Vanderbilt.
Jeff Green scored 14 points to lead the Hoyas, who led 33-20 with 4:15 left in the first half.
However, The Commodores cut the lead to 36-29 at halftime and took a 41-39 lead with 15:23 left on a dunk by Foster, which capped a 21-6 run.
Vanderbilt pulled away to lead by as many as 10, and was able to keep its distance from Georgetown down the stretch.
Georgetown center Roy Hibbert, who had scored 20 or more points in Georgetown’s first two games, finished with just six.
