San Jose St. 72, Cal Poly 57
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP)—Demetrius Brown scored a career-high 23 points to lead San Jose State past Cal Poly 72-57 Saturday.
Brown went 8-for-15 from the field and made seven of nine free throws as the Spartans won their second straight game after dropping their season opener to Texas Tech.
Matt Misko and Menelik Barbary scored 14 points apiece and Misko had a game-high seven rebounds for San Jose State (2-1).
Cal Poly (1-1) led 21-19 with 6:16 left in the first half, but San Jose State went on an 11-0 run to lead 30-21 with 2:06 to go. Brown scored 15 in the first half.
The Spartans never trailed again and led by as many as 19 in the second half.
Alex Elam added 12 points for San Jose State.
Thomas Chaz led Cal Poly with 10 points.
