RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Antonio Webb scored 24 points and Diondre Larmond added 22 as Bethune-Cookman defeated North Carolina A&T 76-62 Tuesday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament’s play-in game.
Eighth-seeded Bethune-Cookman (13-15) advanced to Wednesday night’s quarterfinal round against top-seeded Delaware State.
Larmond’s 3-pointer gave the Wildcats the lead for good at 26-25, and back-to-back 3s by Webb stretched the lead to seven with 1:52 left in the first half.
Larmond hit three consecutive 3-pointers as Bethune-Cookman went on a 26-11 run to open a 60-38 lead with 10:23 left. Michael Williams’ layup gave the Wildcats their biggest lead, 65-41, with 7:27 left and the Aggies (6-24) could get no closer than the final 14-point margin.
The Wildcats were 10-of-21 from 3-point range. Larmond missed only one of six 3s in the second half and was 6-of-10 for the game.
Sean Booker led the Aggies with 16 points. Demetrius Goins added 13 and Steve Koger scored 11.
Cleveland Williams had 12 rebounds and Webb had eight assists for Bethune-Cookman.
