Florida A&M 89, N.C. A&T 85 (2 OT)
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP)—O.J. Sumter scored 21 points and got 11 rebounds as Florida A&M came back from a 19-point deficit in regulation to defeat North Carolina A&T 89-85 in two overtimes Saturday.
The Aggies (4-13, 5-22) led 34-30 at the half and then by 19 points with 12:57 to play in the game between Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rivals.
Florida A&M (13-13, 9-7) pounded the ball inside to Sumter and Michael Sams, who scored 15 points, and made it a two-point game, 67-65, with 1:39 on the clock.
Sams tied the game with at 73 with 15.4 seconds left.
The game went into its first overtime when Steven Koger, who led the Aggies with 25 points, missed a shot at the buzzer.
The Rattlers took a 79-77 lead in overtime when Michael Harper hit a 3-pointer.
Jason Wills then tied it for the Aggies at 79 with 44 seconds left. James Pattman’s 3-point attempt with 15 seconds left missed everything and the game went into a second overtime, in which Florida A&M outscored the Aggies 10-6.
Harper scored 16 points for the Rattlers, Tony Tate added 13 and Pattman had 10.
Demetrius Guions had 17 points and Wills got 15 points for the Aggies.
