Cornell 52, Princeton 49
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP)—Cody Toppert hit five 3-pointers and Cornell rallied to beat Princeton 52-49 on Saturday night in the Ivy League.
The senior Toppert shot 50 percent from the field for a team-leading 15 points and set a school record with a career 234 3-pointers. Jason Canady had 11 points and Lenny Collins added 10 for the Big Red (12-13, 7-5).
Cornell shot only 33 percent from the floor, but made 20 of 22 free throws.
Luke Owings had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (13-12, 4-7). They led 27-18 at the half, but Cornell went on a 20-9 run to start the second half.
The lead changed five times in the last four minutes. Two free throws by Collins with 31 seconds left put Cornell ahead to stay.
In the closing seconds, a layup by Princeton’s Judson Wallace was blocked. He got the rebound but missed his next shot. Cornell’s Ryan Rourke was fouled and hit two free throws. The Tigers didn’t get another shot off.
