CS Northridge 68, Long Beach St. 66
LOS ANGELES (AP)—Ian Boylan had 19 points and six steals to lead Cal State Northridge to a 68-66 victory over Long Beach State Thursday night.
Boylan hit a free throw with 25.4 seconds left to secure the victory, the sixth-straight over the 49ers for the Matadors.
Long Beach State’s Onye Ibekwe had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but missed, and Northridge freshman Robert Lock pulled down the rebound with 2.2 seconds left.
With the win, Cal State Northridge (11-9, 8-3) held onto second place in the Big West Conference, three games behind leader Pacific.
Davin White scored 17 points for the Matadors.
Long Beach State’s Jibril Hodges had a game-high 24 points—including six three pointers—before fouling out.
The 49ers (3-17, 1-9) shot 59 percent from the field in the first half and took a 32-29 lead into halftime.
Ibekwe added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Long Beach State.
