Nicholls St. 90, McNeese St. 81
THIBODAUX, La. (AP)—Stefan Blaszczynski scored 27 points and went 5-of-5 from the 3-point range to lead Nicholls State to a 90-81 win over McNeese State on Saturday night.
Blaszczynski hit 10-of-12 shots from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line. Willie Depron scored 17 points, Cyril Djoukeng 12 and Adonis Gray 11 for Nicholls (6-11, 1-5 Southland Conference).
J.T. Williams led McNeese (7-10, 2-4) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Aldrynn Wardell scored 16 points and pulled in six rebounds while Bryce May added 11 points.
With 41 percent shooting in the first half, Nicholls held a 39-36 lead at halftime. The Colonels improved in the second half, hitting 14-of-27 shots from the field to hold off the Cowboys.
McNeese held a 19-6 point edge in points in the paint and relied heavily on its bench, which scored 44 points.
The Colonels got 26 points on turnovers while the Cowboys scored 16 on mistakes. McNeese outrebounded Nicholls 41-36.
