WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP)—John Goldsberry scored 16 points to lead four players in double-digit scoring as North Carolina-Wilmington defeated Towson 77-59 on Saturday.
Goldsberry hit 5-of-9 field goals, 4-of-4 free throws and posted six assists for the Seahawks (9-5, 4-1 Colonial Athletic Association). Aaron Coombs added 15 points and six rebounds, Beckham Wyrick had 12 points and eight boards and Halston Lane tallied 10 points off the bench.
Mike Green and Lawrence Hamm led the Tigers (4-11, 1-4) with 15 points apiece and Jonathan Pease had 11.
The Seahawks led 35-23 at the break on 44.4 percent shooting.
The Tigers closed the gap to 48-40 with 11:15 left on the first of back-to-back 3-pointers by Green.
The Seahawks answered with a 6-point run and a pair of free throws by Goldsberry to increase the lead to 54-40 at 8:31.
The Seahawks boosted their lead to 20 points, 68-48, on their way to securing a sixth win in seven home appearances.
