EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Bilal Abdullah scored 21 points to lead six Lafayette players in double digits as the Leopards downed Cal State Northridge 95-89 in overtime Monday night.
Cal State’s Calvin Chitwood scored the first basket of overtime to give the Matadors their first lead since 1:44 to go in the first half. Sean Knitter evened the score on Lafayette’s next possession and Abdullah sunk two foul shots to put the Leopards ahead for good.
Lafayette (2-6) led 70-58 with 3:22 left in regulation before Cal State (1-6) went on a 17-5 run to force the extra session.
Davin White scored a game-high 23 points for Cal State, while Ian Boylan had 21.
Cal State attempted 91 shots, making only 37 percent from the field. Lafayette shot 38 percent in the first half before improving to 56 percent in the second half and overtime.
