E. Michigan 90, Marshall 88
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP)—Darryl Garrett scored 22 points as Eastern Michigan survived a late surge by Marshall to win 90-88 Tuesday night.
The game marked the freshman’s first start for the Eagles (3-1, 1-0 Mid-American).
Joe Miles paced five Marshall players in double digits with 20 points.
Miles and Tre Whitted each went 1-for-2 from the foul line in the final 30 seconds to get the Thundering Herd (1-3, 0-1) within two. After Whitted missed his second free throw, an offensive rebound kept the Herd alive.
Marshall had two chances to win in last 11.6 seconds, but both 3-point attempts clanged off the rim.
