LAS VEGAS (AP)—Bruce Price scored a game-high 19 points, including six points in the final minute of overtime, to lead Tennessee State past Cal State Northridge 75-72 in a Bracket A game at the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational on Friday.
Price scored the go-ahead basket with 1:02 left in overtime, 70-69. He also hit a desperation 3-pointer with 20 seconds left. In regulation, he hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute before Northridge’s Bakari Altheimer hit a 3-pointer from the left arc with 31 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, 62-62.
Tennessee State now plays Delaware State in the final round Saturday, while the Matadors play Jackson State.
The Tigers (1-3) also got 12 points and 10 rebounds from Roshaun Bowens, while Rod Flowers had 11 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks. Kareem Grant had 13 points and seven rebounds as five Tigers finished in double digits.
Northridge (0-3) had only two assists and was out-rebounded 59-40. Davin White led the Matadors with 15 points. Ian Boylan had 14 points and Joseph Frazier added 13 points.
For the game, Northridge shot 22-of-73 from the field for 30.1 percent, while Tennessee State was 25-of-68 for 36.8 percent.
From the free-throw line, the Matadors were 23-of-26 for 88.5 percent, while the Tigers were 19-of-27 for 70.4 percent.
There were nine lead changes and three ties in the first half. Tennessee State led for the majority of the half, building its largest lead of the half at 26-20 with 6:49 left.
