Alabama A&M 83, Alcorn St. 81

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP)—Obie Trotter scored 26 points and Terry Horton followed with 24 to lead Alabama A&M to a 83-81 victory over Alcorn State in the Southwestern Athletic Conference semifinals Friday night.

The Bulldogs (13-16) advance to play Alabama State (14-14) in the finals.

Trotter had seven rebounds and six assists in the win and went 13-for-15 from the free-throw line.

He was instrumental also in the Bulldogs’ 86-80 win against Grambling State Thursday with 19 points and seven assists.

Alcorn State (11-18) trailed 41-36 at the half after shooting 44 percent from the field. The Braves were led by Brian Jackson and Trey Johnson with 24 and 22 points respectively.

Myles Howard scored 10 points for the Braves and went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
