Western Michigan 70, Bowling Green 59
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP)—Ben Reed scored 24 points Monday night and Western Michigan took advantage of 20 turnovers that set up easy baskets and a 70-59 victory over Bowling Green.
Western Michigan (22-4, 14-3 Mid-American) has already clinched a first-round bye in the conference’s tournament.
The Broncos have won their last four games against Bowling Green (13-15, 8-9), which couldn’t overcome its turnovers or its 1-for-12 shooting on 3-pointers. Kevin Netter led the Falcons with 19 points.
Reed had 11 points in the first half, when Western Michigan used an 11-point run to break open a game that had been tied five times. Three-pointers by Reed and Brian Snider highlighted the run, which made it 32-20.
Steve Wright’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 34-31 early in the second half, but the Broncos responded with a 10-point spurt in which four players scored. The first three baskets came off layups.
Bowling Green never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.
