Manhattan 92, Marist 67

NEW YORK (AP)—Luis Flores scored 23 points, and Manhattan never trailed while beating Marist 92-67 Sunday in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Dave Holmes, Peter Mulligan and Kenny Minor each added 12 points for the Jaspers (22-5, 16-2).

Carl Hood had 27 points to lead the Red Foxes (6-21, 4-14 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who lost their fourth game in a row and 12th of their last 13.

Manhattan took a 21-6 lead in the first 10 1/2 minutes and—with Flores scoring 11 points—led 37-18 at halftime. Marist shot just 24 percent in the first half to 44 percent for the Jaspers. Overall, Manhattan shot 51 percent and the Red Foxes 36 percent. The Jaspers had a 45-26 rebounding advantage.

Manhattan led by as much as 66-31 after Chris Johnson scored with 12:18 remaining.

The Jaspers will enter the MAAC tournament this week in Albany with a double bye into the semifinals as conference champion. Marist is the seeded ninth in Friday’s first round.
