Western Kentucky 87, Marshall 66
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP)—Nigel Dixon had 29 points and 16 rebounds Saturday to lead Western Kentucky past Marshall 87-66.
Western Kentucky (14-11) used a 20-2 run early in the second half to erase a one-point halftime deficit, then put the game away with a 20-8 run.
Marshall got no closer than nine points in the second half and trailed by as many as 23.
Western Kentucky, an NCAA tournament team a year ago, has won six of its last seven games. Marshall (9-14) has lost six of eight.
Antonio Haynes scored 17 points for Western Kentucky. Anthony Winchester and Michael Wells each added 16 for the Hilltoppers.
A.W. Hamilton led Marshall with 16 points. Marvin Black had 13 and Enoch Bunch added 11.
The game was part of ESPN’s “Bracket Buster,” an event that highlightsmid-major programs.
