Austin Peay 63, Murray State 56
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Adrian Henning scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds as Austin Peay won its 13th straight game 63-56 against Murray State on Saturday night.
The victory ties the Governors’ longest Division I winning streak set in 1972-73, and Austin Peay (16-7, 13-0 Ohio Valley Conference) has won 25 in a row at home.
Murray State (20-5, 10-2) led 39-37 with 16:25 left on a layup by Cuthbert Victor, who finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
But the Governors tied it on a layup by Rhet Wierzba and took the lead midway through the second half on a jumper by Zac Schlader to make it 41-39.
Murray State tied the game 43-43 on Antione Whelchel’s 3-pointer, but Austin Peay answered with five straight points.
From that point, the Racers never had a possession with a chance to tie the game.
Anthony Davis scored 12 points and Wierzba finished with 10 for the Governors.
Murray State’s Whelchel had 17 points.
