Fairfield 67, Canisius 63
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Rob Thomson had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Fairfield to a 67-63 victory over Canisius Thursday night.
Fairfield (13-8, 6-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led by as many as 14 early in the second half before Canisius cut the lead to 43-39 with an 11-3 run. Chuck Harris’ 3-pointer capped the spurt with 15 minutes left.
Canisius got as close as 62-61 after Toby Foster hit two-of-three free throws with 1:39 to play before Maxwell and Thomson put the game away by combining for the Stags’ final five points.
Dewitt Maxwell added 16 points for Fairfield, which won its fourth straight. Kudjo Sogadzi added 12 points.
Jon Ferris had 17 points for Canisius (7-15, 2-9), which lost its fifth consecutive game. Richard Jones had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
