CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP)—Darren Brooks scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds Tuesday night to lead Southern Illinois to a 59-52 victory over Southwest Missouri State.

Brooks hit 5-of-9 field goal attempts for the Salukis (17-2, 11-0 Missouri Valley Conference).

Southern Illinois had two other players in double digits. Brad Korn scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Jamaal Tatum chipped in 10 points and three assists.

Southern Illinois led 31-17 at halftime. But Southwest Missouri put up a fight in the second period, outscoring the Salukis 28-38.

Merrill Andrews scored 15 points for the Bears (14-8, 6-5 MVC). He also tallied eight rebounds and two assists.

The Bears made 5-of-14 3-point attempts, while Southern Illinois shot 4-of-18 behind the 3-point line.
