Manhattan 72, Canisius 56

NEW YORK (AP)—Luis Flores scored 29 points to lead Manhattan to a 72-56 victory over Canisius on Sunday.

Kevin Downey hit a 3-pointer with 10:01 to play that gave Canisius (7-14, 2-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) a 48-47 lead. The Jaspers (15-4, 10-1) then went on a 19-6 run, capped by Flores’ layup that made it 66-54 with 2:57 remaining.

Dave Holmes had 14 points and nine rebounds for Manhattan, while Mike Konovelchick added 12 points. The Jaspers shot only 38 percent from the field but they went 26-of-29 from the free throw line.

Toby Foster led the Golden Griffins with 11 points and six rebounds, while Downey had 10 points.
