La Salle 74, Duquesne 70

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Gary Neal scored 26 points and Steven Smith added 25 points to lead La Salle to a 74-70 victory over Duquesne on Wednesday night.

With the score tied at 63 with 3:24 to play, Duquesne’s Martin Osimani was charged with a technical foul for throwing an elbow. Neal made two free throws and then a basket to give La Salle (8-11, 3-3) the lead for good.

Duquesne (8-10, 3-4 Atlantic 10) held a 35-30 lead at halftime and led by as many as 8 points in the second half.

La Salle made 24 of 29 shots (82.8 percent) from the foul line, including 14-for-16 shooting in the second half. Smith was flawless on the foul line, making all 10 of his free throws.

Elijah Palmer paced Duquesne with 20 points and Ron Dokes had a double-double with 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

Bryant McAllister added 13 points for the Dukes.
