Towson 57, N.C.-Wilmington 55
TOWSON, Md. (AP)—Derrick Goode hit a short jumper in the lane as time expired to give Towson a 57-55 victory over North Carolina-Wilmington on Monday night.
Lawrence Hamm had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers (6-9, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association), who won their third straight at home. Jamal Gilchrist added 14 points for Towson.
UNC Wilmington (9-6, 4-2), the two-time defending CAA champion, had won four straight and beaten Towson five times in a row.
Hamm’s blocked shot gave Towson the ball for the last shot. Mike Green drove to the right side and missed a short jumper with two seconds left. Goode grabbed the ball and hit a short jumper in the lane as the buzzer sounded.
Anthony Terrell had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Seahawks, and Ed Spencer also had 13.
Towson held UNC Wilmington to a season-low 35.1 percent from the field. The Seahawks also made just 6-of-14 free-throw attempts.
