HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP)—Daniel Freeman made a pair of free throws with 1:48 remaining and James Madison finished the game on a 12-6 run to beat Towson 57-55 on Saturday night.
After John Naparlo made a free throw to give the Dukes (4-10, 1-5 Colonial Athletic Association) a 57-55 lead with 13 seconds left, Lawrence Hamm missed his chance to tie from the foul line with one second remaining.
The Tigers (5-9, 2-3) were down by five in the second half before Andrius Petkunas made a free throw and Derrick Goode made two layups to tie the game at 54 with 3:15 to go.
Freeman scored 18 points and was the only player in double-figures for the Dukes, who led at the half 33-32.
Jamaal Gilchrist had 18 points for the Tigers and Petkunas added 10.
