Bowling Green 77, Akron 72
AKRON, Ohio (AP)—Ron Lewis scored 20 points and John Reimold added 19 to help Bowling Green beat Akron 77-72 on Wednesday night.
Bowing Green (7-8, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) led 28-27 at the half. The score was tied at 30 near the top of the second half when Akron (7-5, 1-3) went on a 13-4 run that ended at the 14:49 mark with the Zips ahead 43-34.
Bowling Green didn’t pull ahead again until Reimold scored two consecutive 3-pointers that put the Falcons ahead 60-56 with 7:17 remaining.
Akron pulled to within one point at 60-59 with 6:09 left to play, but could not get any closer. Bowling Green led by eight points with only 18 seconds to play.
Kevin Netter added 14 points for Bowling Green, and Steven Wright led the game in rebounds with eight.
Derrick Tarver led scoring for Akron with 22 points, and Jeremiah Wood added 17.
