Alabama St. 60, Grambling St. 53

GRAMBLING, La. (AP)—Ralfael Golden and Akiem Claborn had 18 points each as Alabama State beat Grambling State 60-53 on Saturday night.

Golden hit 6-of-12 from the field while Claborn was 6-of-8 as the Hornets rallied in the second half hitting 12-of-25 shots from the field.

Paul Haynes led Grambling with 21 points going 7-of-15 from the floor and 7-of-12 from the line. Brion Rush had 11 points and Jamar Lewis added seven as the Tigers hit 38 percent of their shots from the field for the game.

The Hornets (3-7, 1-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) outrebounded the Tigers (2-9, 0-1) 43-24 with Claborn grabbing nine rebounds and Xavier Oliver eight.

Alabama State hit 40 percent of its 3-point shots, making 6-of-15 attempts.

At the halftime, the Tigers led 33-24 after making 44.4 percent of its shots from the field. But in the second, Grambling’s shot percentage dropped to 30.4 percent.
