South Florida 74, Wright St. 59

TAMPA, Fla. (AP)—Jimmy Baxter scored 22 points and fellow senior Gerrick Morris had 11 rebounds, 10 blocked shots and eight points to lead South Florida past Wright State 74-59 on Saturday.

Brian Swift added 13 points and Bradley Mosley had 11 as the Bulls improved to 3-0 under first-year coach Robert McCullum.

Senior guard Vernard Hollins scored 22 points and freshman forward Vova Severovas added 12 for Wright State (0-2). Hollins had four of only six assists for the Raiders.

Morris blocked seven shots as South Florida built a 30-22 halftime lead. Three years ago, the 6-foot-10 center set a Conference USA record with 11 blocked shots as a freshman.

Despite making only nine of 34 shots in the first half, Wright State trailed by just three points with two minutes left in the half. South Florida then went on a 10-2 run that lasted early into the second half.

A pair of free throws by Marlyn Bryant gave the Bulls their largest lead at 74-57 with a minute to go in the game. The Raiders were no closer than seven points down after Severovas scored the first basket after the intermission.
