N.C.-Wilmington 80, Va. Commonwealth 63
WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP)—Brett Blizzard had 26 points Saturday to help North Carolina-Wilmington defeat Virginia Commonwealth 80-63 and give the Seahawks their first 20-win regular season.
Blizzard added five rebounds and seven assists for the UNC-Wilmington (20-6, 14-3 Colonial Athletic Association). Craig Callahan had 16 points and Tim Burnette scored 10.
VCU (17-9 12-6) was led by Willie Taylor with 18 points. Troy Godwin and Emmanuel Mathis each scored 12 points.
The Seahawks led 37-30 at halftime.
Antoine Willie hit a 3-pointer with 13:20 remaining as the Rams took a 48-47 lead. The Seahawks responded with a 13-3 run to give them a 51-50 lead. They extended their lead to 78-58 with 1:07 left on a 3 by Burnette.
