Evansville 54, Bradley 51
PEORIA, Ill. (AP)—Ian Hanavan scored 23 points and had 14 rebounds Saturday night as Evansville fought off a late rally and beat Bradley 54-51.
Clint Cuffle added 16 points with 11 points for the Purple Aces (11-16, 7-10 in the Missouri Valley Conference).
Bradley, which made only 19 of 57 field goal attempts (33 percent) on its home floor, was led by 21 points from Phillip Gilbert. Mike Suggs chipped in 10 for the Braves (11-17, 7-10).
Evansville extended a three-point halftime lead to 50-34 with 6:51 left by going on an 18-5 run behind Cuffle and Hanavan.
But Gilbert brought the Braves back, hitting three straight 3-pointers and scoring 15 points in the final 6:33. His 3-point attempt to tie the game came after the final buzzer.
